William Allen White (December 18, 1864 – November 30, 1948) was an American newspaper editor, author, and progressive politician from Emporia, Kansas. He is best remembered as the creator of the twice-weekly "Emporia Gazette" in 1893. In 1902, he took over editorship of the "Kansas City Star", a position which he held for the next twenty years.
